I always thought the dolls were first released in 1985, but I found out that they were unveiled at the Toy Fair in February 1986. And the show premiered in 1985, as a means to advertise the dolls. But somewhere I heard that the dolls were to advertise the show. What is true about which came out first??

The cartoon was produced as an advertisement for the dolls, but the cartoon was actually released before the dolls.

Oh, OK! But I am still wondering why the first 8 dolls and their cassette tapes have 1985 marked on them! There were commercials in 1985 for Jem, "Coming Soon!" and in 1986, they were revealed! Oh OK, now this makes sense.
