(sorry bout the long long rant on the movie, totally unrelated to the subject line, but it must be done!!)
Ever since the Jem movie was announced in March 2014, we Jem fans jumped with EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!! We sent in audition tapes and contributed our creative selves for the movie... and in late April, the movie's cast was revealed (C or D list teen losers)
And now 2015 has come upon us, and we see a picture from the movie. That's almost nothing compared to the TRAILER (May 2015) which TRULY TRULY TRULY OUTRAGED fans of the real, original Jem [notice the much larger number of dislikes over likes on its YouTube watch page, and all the negative comments?] in a really REALLY bad way. *Jem is a strong, confident, level-headed, determined rock sensation, NOT some lazy boring sad-sack of a mediocre/amateur Hannah Montana wannabe who actually ends up being a rip-off*
When the movie hit theaters on Oct 23 (or Oct 22 for you early-birds), some of you declined, and some of you gave it a chance. I had to go see it, no matter what! I came out kind of liking the movie (just because I am the target audience of the movie which is tweens and teens of the YouTube age, do not judge... I do have a YT channel!!), the stuff they all did and how the teenage girls interacted was fine... but the way they "reinvented" Jem was HORRIBLE. Just WRONG! Nope! Not allowed!
The majority of people angered by this were fans of the original 1980s Jem (like ME, TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUSLY, but I wasn't born in the 80s) that are now around 35-41 (feeling old?) and I have clearly expressed my anger and hate towards the film on Quora (a simple question asked how the show and the movie would be different but NOOOOO I answered like a drill teacher giving statistics and extreme rants).
I do understand that Samantha Newark really loves the film, and so does her publicity team JEMTOURAGE (which I desperately want to be part of and want to LIVE with), if any opportunity comes up for Jem, Samantha would participate immediately (AND SO WOULD I), and so do Britta and Christy (all three women made cameos in the film) even though Christy wasn't involved. DAMN YOU, YOU IDIOTS SHOULD HAVE INVOLVED CHRISTY AND CAST SOME A-LIST CELEBS AND PUT TOGETHER A JEM WARDROBE AND INCLUDE ORIGINAL JEM SONGS AND PUT SYNERGY INTO IT!!!!!!!!!!! And I mean REAL SYNERGY (with the sophisticated computer and her gorgeous holographic human form) NOT SOME SMOL DOG-LIKE ROBOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Again, I understand if any of you like the movie, it is your opinion. I will not cut you down, I will respect your decision. It is only that the majority of us Jem fans are not in agreement with the way the movie turned out!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully this will be made up for in 2016, with some BETTER and COOLER Jem stuff!!!!!!!! Somebody will make it all up to us. I know somebody is Truly Outrageous enough to do so AND THEY WILL!!!!!!!1!!1!1!
