You won't believe this, but ever since JemCon 2013 when I met Sharon Knettell, I have been dying to see the pictures of the models she used for the boxart (she discussed this in a panel, but sadly all the other pics were thrown away because Jem ended). After a while, Sharon said she still had a picture of a Jem model because she was holding Sharon's cat in the photo, but it was on her computer (which was down at the time). She said that she would send me the photo soon enough. But THIS IS WHEN IT HAPPENED. She said she was going to send me the original photos (HOW COOL IS THAT!!) because her scanner broke down... they look absolutely amazing and they have that age on them (outrageous 80s!!) I will be posting pics soon enough

Wow! That is incredible! So the photos are of a real model that she used for reference to paint? Is the model actually wearing the GnG dress?
Looking forward to seeing it, and thanks for sharing it with us!

Thank you so much for sharing! The box art was a huge part of the Jem experience for me. I've been wondering if we would ever get a glimpse at that pic. I so wish there was more. It seems like someone else out there would have pics. I would love to see even just a regular picture of the models even if they are not in the costumes just to see what they looked like. I wish they would come forward and provide some pics or information to us.

I would love to know if this model was used for any of the other Jem and Jerrica artwork and if she posed as any of the other characters. Was she the one and only Jem?

I don't know, because that was the only picture that Sharon had... remember I said in the original post that she threw out all of the other photos because Jem was over?? But I do remember that she had a white model for Shana, only with brown paint all over her skin. She discussed this at her panel at JemCon 2013 in Portland, Maine.

The hell I do!!!!! And, for Christmas, I got a Jem tee (Keep Calm and Showtime Synergy!), the Integrity Toys Rapture Doll, and the 32-page illustrated Jem book (WITH the light-up earrings, LOVE IT ALL)... But today is my 15th birthday (Dec 29), and I received a hanging neon Jem and The Holograms sign!! Just plug it in and it will light up in red I love Jem SO MUCH, and I can't wait to receive more outrageous items from it.

80s, I KNOW RIGHT? It's AMAZE that she never forgot about the shoots after a couple years of my anticipation.
